Daniel Day-Lewis celebrated his 67th birthday with an outing in the Big Apple on Monday.

The reclusive Oscar winner — whose last public appearance was at the National Board of Review Awards Gala back in January — was spotted taking a solo stroll in Manhattan.

Sporting a casually chic navy outfit, the There Will Be Blood star maintained a low profile with a baseball hat and dark-tinted sunglasses.

His tattooed forearms were prominently showcased in the short-sleeve shirt, complemented by a distinctive leather necklace and sturdy combat boots with thick heels.

Although Daniel hasn't made a film since 2017's Phantom Thread, Jim Sheridan — the director of his films My Left Foot (1989), In the Name of the Father (1993) and The Boxer (1997) — recently said that he would like to work with the Oscar winner again.

A few months prior to the film's scheduled release, Daniel made a dramatic announcement through a spokesperson, declaring his retirement.

'This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject,' the statement concluded.

In a subsequent interview with W, he explained that he had wanted to retire multiple times before and finally issued the announcement to force his own hand.

'I knew it was uncharacteristic to put out a statement. But I did want to draw a line. I didn’t want to get sucked back into another project,' he said.
