One of the first things that a person has to do after a Florida accident is get their car fixed. First, the person needs to review their insurance policy to see if they have collision insurance. If they have collision insurance and the accident was not their fault, the person has two choices (1) they can go through their own collision insurance; or (2) they can wait for the other insurance company to accept responsibility and fix or total the car.
The benefit of going under your own insurance company is that it is quicker. The problem is that you will be responsible for your deductible. The upside of going through the other driver’s insurance company is that you will not have to lay out any money to get your car fixed. The downside is that it can sometimes take days or weeks for the other insurance company to evaluate the claim and accept responsibility.
